About Allendale Allendale community is located in south west Edmonton. Allendale was named after Allen family and joined Strathcona in 1907 after which was annexed by the City of Edmonton in 1912. Majority of the homes in the area were built in 1950s with some buildings dating back to 1910s. Most of the residential dwellings are single detached houses which are predominately owner occupied. In the centre of the neighbourhood is Allendale Public School, then just behind it a park and The Allendale Community League which is a great way to get connected with the community as well as stay active and have fun with the whole family.
