Living in Ambleside Edmonton: Convenience, Green Space & Southwest Living

If you’re looking for a Southwest Edmonton neighbourhood where everyday convenience is just as important as parks and outdoor space, Ambleside is easy to understand once you spend some time here.
Part of the Windermere area, Ambleside sits between Anthony Henday Drive, Ellerslie Road, 170 Street/Terwillegar Drive and the Whitemud Creek Ravine. The community was planned with a mix of housing, parks, ponds and walkable green spaces, while Currents of Windermere provides major shopping, restaurants, entertainment and services right at the north end of the neighbourhood.

Why People Like Living in Ambleside

One of Ambleside’s biggest advantages is how much you can access without travelling far.
Residents have neighbourhood parks, ponds and multi-use pathways within the community, while the eastern edge connects with the natural setting of the Whitemud Creek Ravine. At the same time, Anthony Henday Drive and Terwillegar Drive make it relatively straightforward to reach other parts of Edmonton.
It creates a lifestyle that works particularly well for buyers who want Southwest Edmonton convenience without giving up green space.

An Affordable Opportunity in Ambleside

Ambleside isn’t only about larger detached homes. Buyers looking for a more affordable way into the neighbourhood can also find apartment-style condos.

One current example is #108, 103 Ambleside Drive SW.

The condo offers:

  • 2 bedrooms

  • 2 full bathrooms

  • Approximately 759 sq. ft.

  • Titled underground parking

  • A location close to Currents of Windermere, shopping, restaurants, transit, parks and walking trails

It offers an attractive opportunity for a first-time buyer, someone looking for a lower-maintenance home, or an investor interested in one of Southwest Edmonton’s established newer communities.

What’s Ahead for Ambleside?

Ambleside is already well established, but this part of Southwest Edmonton is still evolving.
One of the biggest changes underway is the Terwillegar Drive Expansion. Stage Three began construction in 2026 and includes widening Terwillegar Drive/170 Street to three lanes in each direction, upgrades to the Anthony Henday interchange, new transit lanes and a separate pedestrian/cyclist bridge over Anthony Henday. The City expects Stage Three to be in service by 2028.
There is also continued investment in the wider Windermere area. Windermere District Park, near 170 Street SW and Rabbit Hill Road, entered Phase 1 construction in 2026. The City is preparing the site for two future schools, a future recreation facility and park space, adding another major community destination to this growing part of Southwest Edmonton.
For Ambleside residents, these projects could mean improved connections, more active-transportation options and additional community amenities nearby as Southwest Edmonton continues to grow.

Could Ambleside Be Right for You?

Ambleside’s appeal is really about balance: shopping and restaurants nearby, access to major roads, newer housing and plenty of outdoor space woven through the neighbourhood.

If you’re thinking about buying a home or condo in Ambleside, Windermere or Southwest Edmonton, I’d be happy to help you compare your options — including #108, 103 Ambleside Drive SW — and find the property that makes the most sense for your budget and lifestyle.
